Orange TH100???

So I just agreed to meet a guy and pick up a TH100 tomorrow (the price seemed too good to turn down) It sounds pretty good in the videos I've watched and I've almost jumped on a OR15 a few times for close to the price of this TH100 so I'm thinking if I don't like I can flip it.

Anyone out there have any experience with this amp and if so what are your thoughts on it?

Re: Orange TH100???

I had a th30 for a couple of years and I miss it dearly. The cleans were amazing and the shape knob, while likiting, had to be set to extremes to sound bad (as opposed to the thunderverb which had to be left at 12o'clock to sound any good).

In an only assume the el34s will make the circuit sound beefier, a bit darker and middier... Sounds like a winner to me!

Re: Orange TH100???

Lots of the reviews had good things to say about the cleans and i've been wanting something with el34s since my other amps are 6L6.

Re: Orange TH100???

I haven't had the TH100. I currently have an OR50 with 6CA7s that can run class A and A/B. I havent heard any disappointing Orange amps, however. What cab are you running it into?

Re: Orange TH100???

My former roommate had one. Tighter and more modern on the gain channel than my vintage Oranges. I like it for really heavy modern metal stuff.

Re: Orange TH100???

I have a few different cabs to try it with, marshall 1960a or 1966 with celestion g12t75s, line 6 (spider valve?) with vintage 30s, marshall jcm 800 2x12 with 65watt celestions or a kustom 2x15 bass cab.

Got it home and it works, always a plus. Just played straight into with my epi SG400 with SD Iommi/59n combo and there's way more range of sounds than I expected from Sabbath to modern metal with just the shape knob and some piano like cleans and that was thru a G12T-75 loaded 4x12 cab I'm pretty sure it will just get better with vintage 30s.

Re: Orange TH100???

If it's anything like the Orange Dual Dark 50 I tried out a few months ago, you're in for a treat.

What a skull-****ingly heavy tone that thing has.

Re: Orange TH100???

Orange amps are amazing, I personally enjoy the rockerverbs the most. The thunderverbs seem like more of a metal amp, but it does well with cleans. I had a th30 for a while before my Rcrvrb MK2 and 3, it was really pretty good.

Use the v30s with it, but the magic is in the orange cabs. Orange head + Orange Cab = magic tones of glory

Re: Orange TH100???

I have the 35RT the reverb is as good as a tube amp, great clean and dirty tones. will keep up with drums. good for practice and small gigs. I have had and own several amps including tube, This is my #1 and its SS.DSC00056.jpg

Re: Orange TH100???

Currently running thru the v30s but it sounded good thru the 75s too but they're broken in. I've been watching for a good deal on a good orange or avatar 2x12 or maybe a mesa thiele.

I'm really digging the amp so far. The clean channel is really good and it has some ridiculous amounts of gain and different tones with just the shape knob, gain, and volume. Below 9 o'clock more old school sounds lots of mids little bass at 9 or so the bass starts coming up. Probably no reason to have the gain above 2 o'clock and I'm a gain loving fool. 100 watts of air moving fun.:headbang:

Congrats on the new amp! I agree completely with what's been said here; you can't go wrong with Orange amps. They have this mid-range roar that you don't get with many other amps.
