Orange Tiny Terror: Thoughts?

Hello everybody!

I've been wanting a nice tube amp for a while now, and the Tiny Terror caught my eye. Anybody play one? What did you think of it?

Cheers!

Re: Orange Tiny Terror: Thoughts?

bbent has one. for me its hard to like the little bugger at $550

Re: Orange Tiny Terror: Thoughts?

Nice medum gain classic rock tone, and when you push it into higher gain/master levels the EL84s fuzz up and lose focus, which is a cool sound, but not a tight modern overdrive.

Not a bad little amp, though at the price I'd go for a matamp minimat myself.

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah I forgot to mention that I play more indie/alternative rock and classic rock. Sounds like its my kind of amp! How is the clean tone?

Re: Orange Tiny Terror: Thoughts?

The cranked tone would work pretty well for indie/alt. Gotta say I didn't really spend much time on getting a clean tone, but it sounded fine. Not dull, like many brit-voiced amps.

Check with B Bent....I think he had one for a day or two :D

Or he at least can refer you to whoever the new owner is... :smokin:

Sounded like a great amp if you are looking for a smaller, portable rig; the head and a 1x12 or 2x12 cabinet and you can handle any small to mid-size gigs and not break any ears - or your back!

Re: Orange Tiny Terror: Thoughts?

I think it's a great small venue or bedroom amp. For cleans I switch it to 15 watts for the additional headroom. Most low wattage amps I've played don't have much of a clean tone to speak of but the tiny terrors is very usable and can get loud. Like hot grits said though, it really shines as a classic rock to medium gain amp. When I want more of a hard rock sound out of it I switch it down to 7 watts and adjust the gain and volume then let it rip. Super easy to find great tones in the dirt with this amp. When you pour on the gain and volume you do loose a little definition but I'm so sloppy it doesn't really bother me

Another thing I really like is it's simplicity. Just a knob each for gain, tone and volume. So if you're the type that likes to have control over every frequency you'll hate it. But if you're a plug and play guy and like the sound of new Oranges I think you'll like it.

IMO it was worth the $550...

Re: Orange Tiny Terror: Thoughts?

I am thinking of getting one to add to my Low-Wattage-Rig :

Guitar -->PBoard --> Blues Jr. (w. 2x12cab) in (((stereo))) w. Tiny Terror (w. 2x12 cab)

An idea what i keep in the back of my head !

The clips over at the Orange Forum sounds pretty bloody sweet too !

My 2cents
