Ordered a brass block

Sooooooo my beater M-100 had gone to **** over the years, and i was having a hard time making it sound good anymore. It was too boomy and muddy even with a full shred or custom 8 in it. So i installed a JB, and it tightened up the tone a bit.

Today i radius'd the fretboard, re-fretted it again(3rd set since 2000), and scraped the paint out of the neck pocket and neck heel to get a better joint. Now the guitar is TOO tight and precise because of the better neck joint. I put an A8 in the JB, and that helped bring out a lot of low end chunk, but it wasn't quite enough. So i ordered a brass block just now. We'll see if that can bring out some warmth and bass.

What woods are the neck and body made of? I've been tempted to get a JB to try.

I'll say one thing, you dont do mods halfway, lol. Makes my mere knob and tuner changes seem child-like in comparison. :)

Instead of being woofy and muddy while palm muting, now it feels like a straight kick in the chest. HUGE difference. 3 oz vs 6.x oz

The swap from the pot metal special to the big brass is huge, not nearly as noticeable swapping OFR blocks, the special block swap feels almost like a different guitar.

amazing what the block change will do. When they first came out, I thought "snake oil", but Im a believer!

I'm expecting a care package from KGC for an Aluminum 2 pt Strat block - Not sure when I'll get around to installing it, I'm enjoying the way the Hipshot bridge presently installed in that Strat sounds.

Also had a Floyd Rose heavy block for years - still not installed. :(
