Other ways of learning sweep/picking speed without turning to shred-based excersizes?

I need some good lessons/excersizes/songs on playing fast without having to play shred/metal/harmonicmin0rz style stuff...I mean like clean jazz runs and blues/country/bluegrass style stuff.

Yngwie and Frank Gambale sweep the exact same way- just different chord/scale choices!
