But in such a case, it's no more a "TBX control" as Fender designed / named it and being not a telepath, I can't guess when someone did "forgot to mention" that it was a "modified" one... ;-)

Yeah, that was my fault. Original wiring was so suboptimal for the chosen potentiometer that I even forgot about it

This a great. I’m learning so many things. Thanks a lot guys. I’m going to one last time just buy all new wiring pots and jack and see what the results are. This has been a very strange experience so far.

also I have both JB guitars on the bench at the same time and I’m testing one and the other and repeatedly getting these numbers consistently. There is no battery issue or hand heat issues or ambient heat issues. One guitar has problems and the other does not. And yes there is a huge difference in the tone of the 2 guitars.
