Output - Seth lover vs split JB

A slightly odd question from the title, but to let me explain.

I have a tele with a strat singlecoil in the neck, and a jb humbucker in the bridge, and thinking of replacing the humbucker - it is just rather muddy and bleh, compared to the openess and chime of the singlecoil which I love - sounds utterly awesome with my marshall

In an attempt to play around a bit and see if I could get it sounding better, I tried coil splitting the JB, which gives me the same basic tone really, just a little nicer, and a lot quieter, so I am still looking for a replacement.

from the soundclips, the seth lover sounds perfect, more an older clear sound, which should distort most excellently. the problem being the output. I am after something with a little more grunt than the singlecoil, and the JB split is a little less, In the specs on the site the JB is stated as 16.6k, so assuming about 8K split, and the Seth Lover is a little over 8K, so will this give me enough output over the strat singlecoil?
I am trying to find out a little more about the singlecoil, its an OEM japanese fender strat singlecoil of somesort, but I don't know much more...

If it's a normal "vintage" output Singlecoil, the Seth should be ok output wise.

I am assuming it is a vintagey type, all I can really compare it to is not as hot as a JB, but hotter than a JB split...

If it is a bit hotter than a JB split, I think its more in the 8.5-9 region which is not so vintagey anymore... but as there is no real "just a bit hotter" thing than the Seth, you should consider giving it a shot and use the 21 day exchange policy if you don't like it

I tought a JB split should be as hot as a single and I never found the JB muddy! It can be loose in the bass, harsh or nasal - but muddy?

It should be as hot as a vintage single... I assume he has something hotter in

well maybe muddy is the wrong word, but the neck singlecoil just sounds so much more open and clear, the jb kinda sits back a little with a more fuzzy sound to it, a bit bleh really, it's something a lot clearer I am looking for, to compliment the neck and have a bit more balls and rock to it

Put a Phat Cat in there... they sound great in a strat

That was another thought, will it be a good 'different' sound to the singlecoil? there are no soundclips on the site to try and get an idea from...
