p-90 guitar

here we go

alright, my next guitar is going to be a p-90. i'm thinking something along the lines of a semi-hollowbody mahagony body and neck with a spruce top and a rosewood fingerboard, 3 p-90s. maybe seymourduncans and/or other good p'ups (like dimarzio or fralin) stock (not required!). i.e. the hamer monaco III. i don't want a goldtop. i think the monaco is a semi-hollowbody at least......

anything that's made well without the hamer price? if not i think in about a year a trip to dave's is in order :).....

i'm gonna use this guitar for harder rock stuff and hard blues.

Re: p-90 guitar

I have a Schecter Tempest. I just got it. Its not a semi Hollow, but very similar to a DC LP. It is exactly what I needed for a special arrangement. I needed a guitar for slide and I have always felt that a P90 guitar was what I wanted for this. It works extremely well. I must say that this Schecter is probably the best sounding Shecter on the planet. It has PUPS from a 1952 LP in it. Holy Crap does this guitar scream!:fingersx:

The PUPS are "ON LOAN" from a very good friend of mine. I will eventually put a set of Duncan Antiquity P90's in it.

Re: p-90 guitar

sounds pretty cool, but imo, 3 P90s are not neccessary. Heck, even one bridge P90 is good enough for me :D

Re: p-90 guitar

yeah, 2 p'ups or less is fine.

i just tried out a tc-90 and a monaco and come to think of it i liked the fender tc-90 more.

i kind of like the idea of the sp-90-3 custom in the bridge and a vintage in the neck

orrrrr, i could get a dual or triple humbucker guitar and put a phat cat in it. anyone have idea how the phat cats sound?

Cant beat a PRS SE soapbar for the price bro! The factory pickups sound GREAT also! I actually changed the pickups when I got it to Duncan Vintage P-90's but, the factory 90's went right back in becasue they sounded so good!

Re: p-90 guitar

If you want semi-hollow, possibly 3,P90s hoping they are decent from the factory, I see one clear choice.

Hamer Monaco III-----http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=1441&sid=195

Great playing, great sounding guitar. It can get this real cool quacky sound that sounds like the biggest fattest, yet airiest strat ever. Then you can get the most buttery smooth, or stinging distorted tone.
