I hope i'm in the right place to ask this question. I recently aquired stock 1972 P bass pickups and one thing I notice is one of the poles (2nd from the end) isn't as strong as the other 7 are it's about 3/4 as stong. Other than that the others seem about all even strength when I touch and pull off of each pole with a light screw driver. Is this a defect? Is the pickup dying? What causes this? 1 half measures 5.2K the other 5.3K. Are my pickups OK?

Don't know yet, There are no strings on it now. I just put in the pickups and I am getting a new nut cut for it on Tuesday I'm a lefty and I am flipping the bass over. I did hold the bass near the strings of another guitar and hit the strings and seemed to have good power even at 1 inch away. i won't be able to tell until I get the strings on.
