P-rail volume/output balance

Hello everyone, I have had a p-rail fitted in the neck position on my old (1995) Ibanez, I would expect the single coil output to be lower than the humbucker, but it is about half the volume/output of the p90 part.
Is this normal

cheers,
Roy

No, I did not experience that drastic of a drop with my P-Rails it sounds like something is wired incorrectly. I have a P-Rails bridge not a neck, but that doesn't sound right.

Welcome to the forum!

I didn't experience this, either. If you can show us what diagram you used, and even some pics of your wiring, we can get this thing working well for you. Can you confirm your findings with a meter?

Thanks everyone, this is the wiring diagram I asked the tech to use (I didn’t do it myself). I will photograph the actual wiring and post as soon as I cAN

Hello Mincer, I have a multimeter. Should I measure the resistance between the tip and the side of a standard guitar lead?

yes, short cable is good. and yes, tip and sleeve of the jack will give you ball park readings. wont be 100% accurate but close enough to see whats going on. the rail coil should be like 5.5k, the p90 about 8k. i do notice the rail coil to have less volume than the p90 coil, but i kinda expected that. just like a vintage strat pup has less volume than a vintage p90
