Hello,

i´ve got a Ibanez S420 with two Humbuckers and a 5 way switch. Now I want to replace the neck pickup and put a SHPR1 in it.

Is it possible to wire this combination whitout an additional switch?

I want the follwing positons (the first 3 needn´t be in this order)

1 - P90 (shpr1)
2 - rail SC (shpr1)
3 - Humbucker (shpr1)
4 - SC + Coil Split Bridge Humbucker
5 - Bridge Humbucker

If somewone has a diagramm that would be great.

Thx

Half right.

AAAHHH79 is repeating my suggestion to treat the circuit as if it were a HSS Stratocaster. Think of the P-Rails as two individual single coil pickups that happen to be fused together.

The five sounds will be:
5 - P90 only
4 - P-Rails parallel, hum-cancelling
3 - Rail only
2 - Rail + split HB, hum-cancelling
1 - HB

P-Rails in parallel only is what AAAHHH79 specifically requested. This time, I suspect, P-Rails in series is what was wanted. This is certainly possible using a Superswitch. To use the standard two-pole five-way would involve some smartarse coil ground connections.

derPetto. Is there a model number on the selector switch of your Ibanez? (I expect it to read, OTAX and then some numbers.)

My previous post and that of AAAHHH79 assume a conventional five-way selector switch. (N, N+C, C, C+B, B.) Some of the switches in Ibanez HH guitars do not follow this convention.

So, Funkfingers, I haven´t wired my guitar yet, but you´re telling me that maybe my switch won´t work? I know you told me to read what was written on my switch, but really I didn´t know why. I get it now.
So I should take out my switch and read what is written on it, but if the switch says something different from what you said it should say? That means it won´t work?
Anyway, thanks again for the help. And good luck for you, derPetto.

Hey guys, thanks. I will wire like AAAHHH79 did. The number on my five way selector switch is 2502N :)

thanks again.
