i know the p-90 and rails sections of this pick up are excellent but how does the humbucking option compare to say a burstbucker or paf ...

Re: P-Rails as Humbuckers

I have absolutely no complaints about either humbucking mode or p90. I dont like the rails much, but then I generally dont like most single coils. I have a N/N set in an ibanez semihollow.

oh ok sweet. how does the humbucking option sound are they clear, can you hear individual notes, or is it kinda muddy when driven? do they sound good clean or is it mostly a high gain pick-up? are they more vintage PAF or new style? how is it voiced more mids or more bass? will it sound good in the neck of a telecaster or does it go better with a warmer guitar such as a les paul or sg?

Re: P-Rails as Humbuckers

I can only comment on the P-Rail is a humbucker in series, as that's how I use it. I love this pickup, and should kick myself for not getting one sooner! It sound huge and hot, while not feeling like an overly hot pickup. It has a very open sound that just comes alive under high gain. I play hard rock, and this pickup has been the key to getting "that tone in my head."

Here's the latest song that my band is working on. All of the distorted guitar parts are the P-Rail. The clean leslie parts are a combination of my bridge P-Rail and an Alnico II 59 in the neck position.
