P-rails pickup installation correct?

I bought a set of P-rails for my 2 humbucker tele and brought it to a reputable guitar tech to have it installed, but there are some things that make me wonder if it was installed correctly. He replaced the pots and the switch as well as the pickups.

The wiring set up used was....
1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way, 2 push/pullls diagram

When I'm using the middle and neck position, it sounds the same. Especially in humbucking mode there seems to be no difference. There is a more noticable difference in tone with the rails and the p-90. Again, for the neck and middle position.

I tried turning up the amp to figure out which ones are canceling noise and there seems to be a difference in hum between when the neck is on and when the middle position is on, which goes quiet so I know there is something different going on between the two switches.

and finally, the only other reason why i'm questioning the work something he said which makes me believe he doesn't know what he's talking about.... he said when its on humbucker in series, there won't be any difference in sound using the 3 way switch because it's supposedly one unit or something like that.... didn't make any sense to me...

so any thoughts? are the neck and middle positions supposed to sound similar in this configuration? thanks for the help.

Re: P-rails pickup installation correct?

as far as noise canceling, if both pickups are engaged (and in rail or p90 mode) there should be no hum. if you're using the neck or bridge alone, you should hear some normal hum.

not sure about the other issues...

One way to check for sure exactly which pickups are working is to plug in and then lightly touch the screws or rail with a screwdriver (any anything metallic). If that pickup is going you will hear it.
