P-Rails/Triple Shots install - 09 Les Paul Faded

Hi!

Last year I installed the a set of P-Rails and Triple Shots in my 2008 Les Paul Studio. Everything perfect there.

Now I'm installing a set on a 2009 LP Studio Faded Mahogany (the $799 version of the LP Studio). The difference with this guitar is that the pots are mounted on a circuit board and the factory pickups are quick-connects (not soldered).

Visually I can follow the path in the circuit board from the quick-connect to the volume pot so I soldered the Triple Shots' white (hot) directly to the first pin of the volume pots (which thankfully are exposed). I then soldered the black and ground wires together to the back of the volume pots as I had with my older LP Studio.

The Triple Shots seem to switch between the P90s and the Rails and both just fine but I can not take the volume pot past 8 or it will cut out the sound completely (both neck and bridge). Plus I can hear a hum (even in humbucker mode).

The factory Burstbuckers only have two wires a hot (in that case black) and a green; unlike the Triple shot that has a white (hot), black and a ground. The green on the quick-connect does follow a path to a pin on the tone pot. I also tried soldering the black/ground to the tone pot pin but same result.

Any one else experienced this issue? Any known fixes?

Thank you, Luis.

Hi! Anyone has any experience with the tripple shots (w/ P-Rails) in a newer Les Paul that has a circuit board and solderless connectors? Thank you.
