P90s, double polepieces, using them for bass

Something Cool
Made me wonder.

Nobody ever did to a guitar P90 what a Jazz bass pickup does to a Fender guitar single coil - give it double pole (in this case passive ones) and just slam it into a bass?

So that would be soapbar shaped but just one coil, 2 passive polepiece per string and two magnets on the bottom hugging the polepieces.

Re: P90s, double polepieces, using them for bass

I wouldn't be above using a P90 for a Fender Bass VI style beast.

I also don't see any reason not to do what you're suggesting, soooo...

Actually, this might be it.

Look at the bridge pickup of the bottom one. Not a single coil Jazz shape. More like a soap bar p90, acts like it too, much hotter and more barky with mids. Not the exact style as a p90 or even the same polepieces. But it's close.
