P90's for the Spinal tap sound

Hi,

I just got an epiphone es-339 with p90s i think they are a5s. They sound pretty good and it came with CTS pots which... means i have less to solder :(

The bridge pickup however is a little underwound @ 8k and i'm looking to get some classic p90 sounds like....... iron man and spinal taps sound on tonight im going to rock you tonight type sound, I was maybe thinking either the SD hot or a gibson bridge. It's like the bridge pickup needs that little bit extra.. to push it over the cliff....

The neck pickup is alright clean but distorted its awfully bassy and... I can't sort it by moving the pup so I suspect an Antiquity or vintage will go in there.

Any one tried the antiquity neck vs the vintage SD?

Short/inexpensive answer: two A8 bar magnets in the bridge position pickup.

Got the answer to all your problems right here. Best mod I ever did.

Seriously though, funny thing is if you put a no load tone pot in, it actually works...

But for the actual issue, what amp are you running through? We all know Tufnel's magic is in his wizardly hands, and of course his 59 les paul with the infinite sustain. I do think What was used to record with though was the p90 equipped gold top so you shouldn't be far off.
