P90s. Looking for opinions and answers.

Here goes. First I'm doing an LPJr build and I'm using a Seymour Vintage P90. Never heard them before but I love SDs so I took a gamble. I only have one guitar with P90s and I love it. It's a Fender Blacktop Jaguar P90. Those pickups are pretty killer in the mid range Great tone for a MIM guitar. Any idea what pups they were using? Thanks.

not sure what the fender came with stock. the sd vintage p90 is great if you want a on the hot side of vintage p90 tone. the neck version is pretty much the classic p90 tone but the duncan has the bridge wound a little hotter. personally i like em a lot

Is this the guitar you have? If so the only research I could find showed the pickups are unique to that guitar.

I don't have alot of experience with P90s–tried a Lindy Fralin set that was awesome and an Epiphone Wildkat that sounded decent...I just never cared for the P90 sound in the bridge, love the neck though. Wish I could be of more help–am trying out a Phat Cat on my current project, but that is a Humbucker sized P90.

Sweet guitar man! Reviews seem very favorable for them from what I've read.

Have you considered contacting Fender? They are usually slow with a response when I've tried but at least they've responded to my inquires.
