Whats the difference between a P90 and any other humbucker? I recently have been listening to GreenDay's latest album release and am diggin the tone Billie Joe is getting using a set of P90'S. Anyone have any info for me? :32:

First off, you'll have hum, since you're dealing with a single coil. In my experience, P-90s have a little more narrow sound, with more snarl than a humbucker. With my setup anyway, the P-90s work really well with pushed-to-crunchy sounds, but kind of crap out with more over the top distortion. They are a great alternative to your run of the mill single coil or humbucker sound if you're looking for something different.

a P-90 is not a humbucker it is a single coil pickup and they sounds tatally different...P-90's have a brighter top and more mids tha most buckers, and that have a more growley quality...I love p-90 for that reason.

What kind of P90s were you using? See I haven't had that experience at all my Gibson P90s (made in 64 though) keep clarity under heavy gain as do my SD Customs. They cut through REALLY well.
