PA Monitor for Practice w/ Interface

At home for practice I use a simpleton setup instead of an amp: GarageBand, Presonus Interface (kinda crap but oh well,) and a 5" speaker powered PA monitor.

I'm looking for a something with good fidelity at a "value" price (don't want to pay over $100 used.) Must work with bass, guitar, voice reasonably well, but I care most about it reproducing guitar tone. Optimization is for "listening/practice" rather than performance volumes. What should I look at, if anything can meet those criteria?

Replacement; my (generic?) 5" powered monitor has worse quality at the highest volume levels I care to turn it up to. The Presonus interface is less than ideal and outputs a bit hot, but the problem is the speaker itself.

Suggest you try a p.a. speaker with at least a 12" driver and a horn. Vocals should sound great...the 5" you are using is too easily overdriven into distortion.
NEW at Guitar Center or Sam Ash etc, powered speakers with 12" or 15" drivers with horns frequently can be be had for under $200, so used could be close to your $100 price.
Remember that FRFR (full range, flat response) p.a. type speakers work best for guitar when
preamped with a killer rig like a Helix, Fractal, Headrush etc. Clean speakers don't add coloration so even super expensive ones tend to sound sterile without the "right" guitar rig.

Find an old Roland KB series amp.

Basically, a small powered PA for Keyboards. Very flexible. Usually cheap used.
