In my quest to learn how to play lead guitar I have been searching for a PA system. I also what it to setup Karaoke as well. Is this a good system and price? They are asking $475.00

Yamaha EMX 3000 Powered Mixer. 10 channel with all effects, controls, and accessories. Great for Stage, Church, Outdoor concerts, and for Music Studio and Recording. Comes with two 15" speaker cabinets equipped with speakers and horns.. Mixer has full equalizer and all digital effects board. Two adjustable speaker stands. Like new

Re: PA question

what speakers? the mixer is fine for what it is and very utilitarian, i have a similar older yamaha mixer that has served me well but the speakers will determine if that price is too high

Re: PA question

Like Jeremy said it all depends on the speakers. If the speakers are worth $250 - 300 then the system is a steal.

Re: PA question

Yamaha is solid stuff. My band uses a big Yamaha board (24 channels).

Powered Mixer is cool. seen them before.

How big a room are you trying to fill? Size and occupants...to do what? I don't get Lead Guitar = PA. Solo acoustic = PA, yes. IS there some band that will let you in if you bring the PA? Don't join!!!!

Re: PA question

Lead guitar=PA= learning how to sing and play at the same time.

16ft x 20ft= man cave

No band invites, just me and the wife + a few friends that like to sing Karaoke on the weekends.

Re: PA question

Go to GC and get a 12" Alto powered speaker, and a tiny alto 6 channel mixer. Yamaha 300Em is WAY overkill!!!!

Get two Sure PG48 mics and you are good to go. Cables not included.

Enough for 2 vocal mics, and a guitar, plus karaoke sound from phone, computer, whatever...

As Bruce said - it COULD be done from just the speaker with guitar/mic

Re: PA question

If you are not going to use with a band, a single powered speaker with mixer is great! Depending on the price. I never over-look places like craigslist. I got Peavey PV 2600 amp, Behringer MX 1804 and two Peavey SP 5X speakers for $225.00. I am new to the PA thing and I am still learning. I didnt want to buy or sink money into something I would out grow real fast. At the moment we use this for our band...as we are getting the band together. Mainly for vocals.

Now I am looking for a good IEM system. Anyone have ideas?

Re: PA question

My PA rig is 2 Carvin powered 12s , 2 Carvin powered 15s and a Behringer XAir 18
Assorted poles and cables

The powered speakers are 400 watts each

Small acoustic gigs would only need the powered speaker

A powered speaker and a modeling pedal replaces an amp in a tight

Yea powered speakers are way more versatile than power amps and cabs

Re: PA question

I'd get a Helicon Mic Mechanic or something like that for vocal fx - but yeah. Little 'Verb or delay almost always: dry voice is dry!

Re: PA question

I decided to go with a Yamaha MG10XU mixing board, a Kustom PA50 w/proline stand and a Peavy P11 mic. This setup is small and has only one speaker but for now it is more than enough for me.
Thanks everyone for the input.
Here is my setup in the living room.

Re: PA question

Mine has an entire trailer dedicated to it. :headbang: My band uses a 24 channel YamahaXU

Excellent selections. If you ever want to grow, that speaker will make a great monitor!
