pairing a strat pickup with a Jerry Donahue

I'm considering putting a strat pickup in a Tele with a JD. The APS-1 seems like it would be an obvious choice because it's A2, but I'm not sure. Would the SSL be too bright to match with the JD ya think? Or is the APS the right way to go?

Also, the JD has staggered poles, so I figured I would go that route too. RWRP for hum canceling. Seem right to yall? Any comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.

i match a5 strat pups with a2 bridge pups a fair amount. ive paired a ssl2 neck with jd bridge and really liked it. cant remember if it was rw/rp or not though

Ok, interesting. Did you notice a significant difference in brightness? That’s really my main concern. I know it doesn’t bother some folks but my preference is to minimize the difference in brightness between the neck and bridge. The neck position in this Tele is pretty mellow to begin with, so I wasn’t sure how that would factor in as well.

Oh also, what’s your opinions on staggered vs flat for this situation? The JD has slightly raised D and G poles. And the fretboard is 9.5. I guess I could go either way, but some suggestions would be helpful, thanks.
