Parallel Axis - Distortion vs Crazy 8?

I've been alternately using the 2B Distortion and the 3B Blues Saraceno. I prefer the sound of alnico but the Saraceno doesn't quite have enough punch.

Objective comparison between the Distortion and the Crazy 8? Thanks!

Have you tried the original Parallel Axis? It's also an Alnico 5 design with great balance and good punch.

An A8 in your Blues Saraceno would be a cheap and easy way to add output while keeping most of that "Alnico 5" feel, but the A8 will round out the highs a bit and increase the midrange slightly. The Parallel Axis series is a good candidate for the A8, as they tend to retain much of the openness and not become overly compressed.

This is an interesting observation. No "punch" he says. As soon as I read this, I grabbed my Epi Les Paul Custom with the PATB-1n/PATB-3b. Then I compared it to my Cort LP wannabe, with Pearly Gates neck and bridge. There's definitely a difference. The PG's have the "punch". The Blues Saraceno, as much as I love this pup, is smoother and more hi-fi. Both are killer pups, but it does make one wonder . . . how do we define "punch"? Clearly, the PG has more.

I can tell you that I preferred the Crazy 8 over the SH-6 Distortion in the same guitar. It was clearer while retaining the same percussive sound. And I thought it had better dynamics.
