Parallel Axis ???

I mentioned this in another thread, but thought it deserved its' own topic......

Anyone using these?

They look & sound intriguing, but I never hear anyone talking about them.

Maybe a PA-STK1n/PA-STK1n/PATB-3 Blues Saraceno combo????

Re: Parallel Axis ???

I have the PATB-1(b) in the bridge of a H/S/S guitar with a Floyd. Basswood body, maple/maple neck. It is the PERFECT HB for this guitar. I tried 59, Custom Custom, C5...nothing was quite what I was looking for. This one was.

Perhaps it's just the guitar, but it has the perfect amount of clarity, fatness without mud and crunch. It also sounds suprisingly good clean...again, it may be the lightness and brightness of the guitar. It sounds great to me doing classic rock thru hard rock / 80's metal. I don't think it sounds all that great for blues, but it's not in the axe I grab for blues. For heavy blues based rock, it would be just fine. I kind of equate it to the CC. The CC doesn't sound like a high output humbucker, and neither does the PATB-1 in this guitar.

The looks are a little unorthodox, but I love it.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

Thanks Jeff.

I grabbed a s/s/h guitar in a trade & the lame Lace pickups have got to go.

These look very interesting in that you can get the classic tones, but also be able to kick it in with the volume knob.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

It's really cool. I was afraid it would be too hot, I really wanted to try the PATB-3 Blues...but I got a good deal on this one, and I'm really glad I did. The blues is a cool idea, but I figured I had enough pickups that did the PAF or PAF clone type of thing.

The PATB-1 is awsome.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

Good tip.....yeah, I'm looking for something a little different than what I've already got.

We'll see...you don't see them used much, so it looks like $90.00 a pop.

Right now, the singles have to go & I've got the Custom, so I can make it enjoyable fairly easily for the time being.

Thanks again Bro!

Re: Parallel Axis ???

I'm thinking about throwing the distortion PAT in my jackson. Havn't quiet made up my mind about it though.

Do you have one already ?

Nope, not yet but I have a new guitar on the way which is going to be completely active so I think I want to change the bridge pup of my soloist to passive.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

The PATB3 blues is a great pickup, got that stratty roundness to the lows, and a nice chimey high end..heck it even made my SG sound stratlike, but in a BIG way.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

I have a PATB1 in the bridge of my all-maple Hamer Cali and PATB1 bridge and neck pickups in my Alder Hamer Diablo (both guitars have Floyd Rose bridges). They're awesome pickups. Fat with out being muddy and they do cleans pretty well too. The Cali came with a PA-STK in the neck, but I replaced it with a Cool Rails. The PASTK was too bright and couldn't keep up with the PATB output-wise. If I ever have a guitar to try it in, I'd love to check out a PATB3.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

Patb3 is very vocal and cool and lower output. I used the patb2 for 10 years and it screams. The patb1 is in my Ibanez guitars for now and I really like the a5 magnet and the growl and fullness compared to the patb2.

Re: Parallel Axis ???

i'm using PATB-1 in neck of my mahogany Ibanez. It become the permanent resident of my guitar after trying some other pickups, dimarzio and duncan.
