Parallel or Series?

Ok, if I wire the speakers in my cab in parallel, would it sound any different than if I wired them in series? I know all about the electrical difference between the 2 wirings...but what about the sonic difference? Anyone have any experience with this situation? Thanks!

Don't think you'll notice much difference. I think the parallel sounds a little heavier but ya really gotta listen. Course could just be my ears.

Technically there is some phasing difference, but you won't hear that with guitar speakers and cabs. You'll probably notice more from the amp driving different loads from different points on the output transformer.

Thanks guys..the reason I'm asking is because I have a cab with 2 8 ohm speakers in it, and I can get a 16 ohm hot plate for about $100 cheaper than a new 4 ohm hot plate....
