Exactly on the pups- The dimarzios had no character- Why they were created for the nitefly I have no idea- Neither strat nor LP characteristics, just bad pups-

But it played so well unplugged and accoustic that I was positive a pup lift would do wonders - It did and can cover just about anything our band can throw at it-

When I owned mine, I called Parker, they told me that Dimarzio had based the original Fly's pickups were based on the PAF model. The neck was OK (especially combined with the piezo) but the bridge was pretty bad. No punch, harmonics, or grind. It was pretty much just filling the hole.

I'm rather fond of Parker Guitars, myself.

The Dmz designed s/c pups in the Nitefly I had were great. But that was the original, passive circuit Nitefly.

The Fly Deluxe, OTOH, sounds much better with SD custom shop rebuilds to Brobucker and A2Pro specs.
