I am thinking about changing out my stock Night Fly M pickups out for P Rails.
Has anyone out there done this & can you tell me what tone difference I can expect in the humbucking mode.
Thanks

Re: Parker Nightfly M

I wouldn't touch whats in my Nightfly M. I have changed pickups in too many guitars to count and more often then not I'm sorry I did it and end up going back to the original, A guitar like the Parker Nightfly M which was only made in 1998 and 1999 needs NOTHING done to it. In my opinion, you'll be very disappointed in the end, in my opinion

Re: Parker Nightfly M

oh man. i have a nitefly m that has seen a whole bunch of pickup swaps. it's a very difficult guitar to get right with pickups, imho. it's pretty dark, but has a very zingy top end to it, probably due to the ss frets and the carbon fiber wrap on the neck.

i pulled the stocks thinking that i would find a suitable replacement from dimarzio. i tried:

air norton bridge / 36th anniversary PAF neck - cool set. output was not what i wanted, and the air norton, while sounding cool in the bridge, didn't have near enough cut for more aggressive styles.

crunch lab / liquifire - also a cool set, but this is the wrong guitar for it. too dark. i would be that alder or basswood would be fantastic for these pups, but the nitefly was the wrong piece of wood.

DActivator set - this is a winner. awesome. high output but great tone. the neck pickup is sweet. they split very well, and work well with the volume and tone knobs for an awesome variety of tone. they sound awesome clean, and killer for higher gain.

you may have to make some alterations to the pickup routes, because they are deep pickups.

Do you have the 1st Gen of 2nd Gen DiMarzios in your Parker? I have never played the 1st Gens but obviously Ken and Larry were not 100% happy with the sound. My 2nd Gen DiMarzios sound fantastic, especially the singles I have a HSS setup.

Re: Parker Nightfly M

mine is a 2004 nitefly m. No pickguard, direct mounted pickups, satin mahogany body. I think they were 2nd gen. My issue with the stocks was their lack of character. They didn't sound bad, but they didn't have any real identity to them.

again, just mho, but the dactivators are awesome.
