Part II of the "unbiased" audio clips? Suggestions for navigating an ocean of pickups
Now that part I has been recorded as unbiased as possible (same guitar, same amp/settings, same player, same LICK) I think it would be totally cool to have a Part II of the "best of" where even though the adjustable parameters may vary from one pickup to the next, the sheer sound quality of the pickup in action truly shows what that pickup can do.
(Let's not mention the fact that not all of the techniques of the instrument's vastly superior tonal repertoire were fully exploited: pinch harmonics, artificial harmonics, pick scrapes/rakes just to name a few)
All things said and done, a possible halfway point between another batch of "the Best of each pickup" recordings and slogging through the same lick over and over and over....could be a cataloging of pickups on recordings produced by professional artists. But then again...maybe some things should be left secret?
