PATB-2 in limba?

As some of you may know.... or not :D I 'm building a custom guitar and need some advice about what PUP's to use...

The guitar is going to be a set-thru Limba/limba/ebony with floyd rose, a 26.5" scale and tuned to B standard. I really like the SH-6 in my Schecter Hellraiser (mahogany/mahogany/rosewood) but I 've read that limba can be a little bit mid-heavy and since the SH-6 also has a lot of mids, it might be a little bit too much mids...

Would the PATB-2 tame the mids a little bit? Or am I mistaken and the SH-6 will sound just fine in this guitar?

Thx

Re: PATB-2 in limba?

When you start talking about set through neck design and longer/shorter than normal scale lengths most regular knowledge goes out the window...there are now too many new variables so it's hard to saw whats going to happen however I can tel you based on what I know that kimba is about 80-85% the tone of mahogany and 15-20% the tone of good light weight swamp ash...maybe that helps...

Yes, you can take most pickup suggestions people will give you for this guitar and throw them out the window due to lack of experience with these specs (or, not throughly reading your post to start with). I have a few idea but, honestly, I cant give you a concrete idea due to my lack of experience with this setup.

I would say this, try a pickup you like or are strongly thinking about and give it a shot. Use that as a baseline to get what you want.

Re: PATB-2 in limba?

So what you 're basically saying is: just try the SH-6 and if it's no good, then change the PUP?

hmmm, maybe not the answer I was hoping for, but perhaps the smartest thing to do :)
