Well, I order a patb-3 the other day, and I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. In the meantime, can anybody tell me how it sounds when coil-tapped?

Re: PATB3 coil tapped sound?

I dont know. I stopped fooling with Switches and cumbersome wiring things on guitars years ago mainly becasue most sounds from them suck. LOL!

I dont know dude, maybe someone else will chime in. I have not heard of anyone who has tried it split so, I cant help ya.

The PATB-3 kicks ass though! I love the hell out of mine.

Re: PATB3 coil tapped sound?

It's OK, but not the best. It seems to lose too much output and low end.

The C5, CC, and Custom do a better job of splitting, but the PATB-3 kills them all at being fat AND tight while letting a lot of the guitar's natural tone come through.

Howdy fellas!

Regarding the question: Am not too sure. Mine splits real good, as well as CC's and Brobuckers. Split you'd get 5.00K's of #42 wire, which is much better than splitting PAFs. With a CC/C5 that'd be 7.50K's with #43 wire. So apart from the magnetic field, it is very similar to a duncan JD tele lead pickup (or Broadcaster).

In summary, I like the split CC more than the split PATB-3. But somehow, when it is wired paralel with the middle strat 6.0K a5 pickup of mine, I prefer the PATB-3. It is more strat so to say.
