Patience is one of many virtues I have lost

So, as I've said in a few previous posts, I am just coming back to playing after a looooong hiatus, and am finding I am rushing everything, even stuff I used to play in my sleep. I'll practice it slow with the metronome, but then up to speed I still catch myself getting ahead. Any tricks to help with this besides just practice/practice/practice?

The metronome is only a guide. Your task is to follow.

The disadvantage of a metronome is strictness of tempo. Working with humans will introduce an element of collective inaccuracy (or Swing). You need to feel where the pulse lies in the music and ride with it.
