this guitar has two TZ's stock

and after hearing paul play this axe they must be wired in parallel
a stock TZ is mega fat and super high output but these TZ's on this ibanez sound much thinner and much lower in output
anyone know the dope on this?
some of his other guitars have paf pros which i love

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

I saw Mr. Big live back when he used TZ's exclusively. I can tell ya, they aren't wired parallel. His sound was HUGE!!!! If anything, they split in the notch position with the middle single. He's been using PAF Pro's for a while now.

yeah he did have a much bigger tone then but this ibanez is post MR big and has a very almost single coil tone to it?

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

Well, that post you quoted says that he uses PAF Pro's post-Mr. Big.:dot:
yes but this ibanez does not have paf pros
look at the pups they both have traditional poles and the pros all have hex poles
also PG uses both paf pros and TZ's in different guitars
that ibanez pic i posted has two white TZ's and a jem single coil

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

Only way to know for sure on that guitar, other than looking at the wiring diagram or the specs, is to check it with an ohm meter with a cable plugged in. Parallel will come out lower DC resistance reading than series.

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

Could be parallel on some and not others, he has quite a few guitars....in Racer X it was Super Distortions wired in parallel, he likes a bright attack to bring out the pick a bit more.

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

Actually, PGM's came with a Humbucker From Hell in the neck, except for the PGM800 in '96 which came with dual Tone Zones. I think it was '04 with the PGM300 and 301 that they came with PAF Pros though the PGM100 and 200 came with them as well. The TZ/HFH equipped PGM's had a DMZ FS-1 in the middle, Jem single in the middle on the PAF Pro equipped models. The PGM90HAM does in fact have two Tone Zones, but I can't find a wiring diagram.

All the PGM diagrams on the Ibanez site that I've seen have the humbuckers split in the 2 and 4 position with the single-coil.

Part of me wants to say that they all came wired in typical HSH fashion like the diagrams and would be changed to parallel by the owner, or by Paul for whichever ones he chose to do that to that he has/had.

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

I know he uses SuperD's, PAF pro's and tone zones...check the DMZ website to see which ones he uses...

Re: PAUL GILBERT question

I heard in the beginning he used superdistortions wired in parallel
