Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

I heard that Paul Gilbert used Seymour Duncan pickups before switching to Dimarzio's in the early 90's.

Anyone know for certain what he used?

To my ears best guess would be Full Shred.

Re: Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

where'd you hear that?
on the DMZ main site it says paul gilbert used 2 super distortions, both in parallel, all the way back in racer X

Re: Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

In one of the lesson video snippets on youtube, I believe you can make out the SD logo on the mini in the neck. The guitar was a purple-plum sort of color with a clear pickguard IIRC.

Re: Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

Paul's early Ibanez with the mini in the neck had a Super Distortion wired in parallel in the bridge. The mini was a Duncan. Every other guitar he has used has had DiMarzios, either Super Distortions in parallel, PAF Pros, Tone Zone/Humbucker From Hell, dual Tone Zones or Air Classics.

If anything, he made the switch to the Tone Zone/Humbucker From Hell in the early 90's.

Paul used a Duncan mini in the neck of his Epiphone Wilshire.

Check this vid around 2:00-2:15, and this one. That looks like Seymour's logo on the neck pup, although it also looks like it's a one knob guitar with two pickups...

Re: Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

Yes, chill, that is a SD Mini. There's a mini toggle near the lower horn that switches between the pickups.

Re: Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

Was it the jb or custom? I wanna know cause the tone on that vid is the only pg tone that impressed me

Re: Paul Gilbert used what SD pup?

 Both your avatars feature a guy leaning backwards soloing high up on a white Strat-style

And the SD minibucker did not come in JB or other varieties. It was basically the same as the ones you'd find on a Firebird or LP Deluxe.

yes paul hae the mini in the neck spot but had a full size duncan in the bridge of the guitar nicknamed telesavalas. It was either a jb or a duncan custom? But which one?
