Pearly Gates bridge in neck position?

Hi. I wanted to put the PG in my Schecter CSH1 (semihollow) neck. All they have locally is the bridge model, and I'm anxious to upgrade this guitar. In the gig I'm in currently, with this guitar I use the neck 90% of the time anyway, so I'll probably hold off for awhile replacing the bridge. Would there be anything inherently bad about using the PGb in the neck?

Re: Pearly Gates bridge in neck position?

Bridge or neck pickups are called that for one or both of two reasons. One is string spacing and some models have a shorter string spacing for the neck version and a wider string spacing for the bridge version.

The other is the winding or output capability. The bridge model is usually hotter because of less string vibration next to the bridge than you get at the neck pickup position.

I could be wrong here but I did not think the Pearly Gates was made in neck and bridge models. If you check out this link it shows one model SH-PG1 and says it could be used in both positions.

The trembucker version is the same pickup made slightly larger for Fender use. Is this what you are calling the bridge model?

EDIT: Forgot the link http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/humbuckersdescr.shtml#PearlyGates153

And 7 v 8 is not that different. My main concren would be the Printing would be upside down if you wanted the screws in the "right" place. Patience grasshopper...get the neck pup. I don't know that Duncan spaces differently.

The PG bridge in the neck will do just fine!!! I had a PG neck once that was wound almost as hot as a bridge position and it sounded GREAT!!! Do it, it will be good!

If your guitar is a 22-fretter, wait for the neck version. If it's a 24-fretter, not only is it okay to use the bridge model, I recommend it.

Re: Pearly Gates bridge in neck position?

I was thinking that if I go for a high output bridge pickup (maybe a CC or H3), maybe the PGb would be a better match in the neck position, output wise?

Re: Pearly Gates bridge in neck position?

I would say go ahead and install it in the neck. I don't think the sound is that different, and you can always have it lower in the neck position (height wise)

The CC is not high output. It kind of on the medium side of things.
