I was going to put together a Les Paul with a Custom/PG, and I was wondering if the hotter PG bridge would sound fine in the neck. I thought it would match better.
I am without a doubt sure it would work very well with the Custom bridge. I have a PG neck that is wound hotter than the usual specs ( mine is 7.8K) and it works like butter!!! I am sure it should be just fine considering the PG is a brighter pickup.
The thing with the "vintage paf" type Duncan pickups is the bridge pickup is actually wound closer to vintage specs and the neck pickups are a little underwound compared to a vintage paf. So at 8.3K the bridge model PG is about what most original vintage paf humbuckers are anyway. It should sound just fine as a neck pickup and in the 50's and 60's Les Pauls, SG's, 335's, etc. both pickups would have measured right about 8.2K or 8.3K anyway. Lew
I haven't tried it. However, I have read, on numerous forums, that the PG bridge model is a wonderful neck pickup. In fact, I have read where some say it cannot be beaten...
