Pearly Gates for Tele and Little 59 for Tele

Hey folks,

Wondering, what is the basic real difference between two models: custom shop Pearly Gates for Tele and regular production Little 59 dor Tele.

Both of them share same minihumbucker construction. Their DC resistance figures are pretty close: 17.4K and 17.7K respectively. The difference that can be learned from the paper is magnet Alnico 2 vs Ceramic. But what is the real difference between them? And the obvious question - is the $80 difference between these two models worth it?

Thanks

Re: Pearly Gates for Tele and Little 59 for Tele

I've used both in live and recording situations. My custom T-Style currently had a Pearly Gates in the neck and a CS PG for Tele in the bridge. It is excellent and well worth the price.

Beyond the magnets and DC differences on paper, I don't know what the wind count or wire gauge is. What I do know is that it's an awesome pickup to pair with a full size PG neck and it's a great tonal match. Gets a warm Tele twang with a lot of body while still maintaining a humbucker sound and strength. I don't like splitting pickups - I prefer series/parallel options and it sounds great in parallel too, if you're looking for a thinner sound.

It's hotter than the Little '59 but the Little '59 is a little smoother sounding - less aggressive. Not that the PGfT can't be dialed in that way.

Killer pickup. I love mine.

The PG is better for that Texas tone (ZZ Top). If you have the money go for the PG if not the 59 will work.
