Pearly Gates Plus and Tuning Down....

I just got a Charvel Desolation SK-3 that I want to use for messing with different tunings. I've heard the stock pickups in these aren't the greatest, so
I was planning on swapping in a PG+ I have laying around in the bridge. I was just wondering if it would respond well to lower tunings, or would it turn
into a sea of mud. The body is mahogany/maple, and the neck is mahogany also. I won't be going nuts with the overdrive on it, either.

Re: Pearly Gates Plus and Tuning Down....

I should be getting my first PG this weekend so unfortunately at this point I can't say one way or another from experience. Typically I would suggest playing the guitar to hear how the pickups sound before buying different pickups; however, you already have the pickup in question. If the PG doesn't cut it for you then let us know what the problems are/what's not sounding right. Best of luck!

Re: Pearly Gates Plus and Tuning Down....

the pg+ should work fine for lower tunings as long as the amp can handle the low frequencies
