I recently bought a guitar with a Seymour Duncan, Pearly Gates model number PGBL. The pickup is in the neck position, but I think it is a bridge position model. Is this a bridge pickup? What does the L stand for?
Indeed its the bridge model. The L stands for Lidia, the name of the winder resp. finisher of the pickup. It was wound probably in the 90ies, the back indicates the time from about 1988 to 2001

Thank you, for the info! I'll move the pickup to the bridge position. Now the search begins for a reasonably priced Seth Lover or '59 for the neck position.
I bought the guitar with a fretboard that is delaminated from the neck under the first three to four frets. I haven't had a chance to repair or play it yet.
Ye I was going to say there's nothing wrong with using bridge and even neck pickups in the opposite intended location, sometimes it can be benifical and match better
