Please advise.

My next project is a mahogany SG body with a Flying V neck. I can either use my 57s or splash out on a new set.

Since the guitar is based on something I saw Gibbons open with in Houston last month I was thinking PGs.

Well, the Pearlies will certainly get you closer to Billy's tone, and seem to have that extra bump in the high EQ that's there in his sound the last 20 years or so.

IME, you really have to work with the Gibson pickups to bring out the top-end clarity. Not so with the Duncans. It's just there. :headbang:

The intended body and neck, glued together last night.

What color then?

Cherry red semi transparent nitro?
Black semi transparent nitro?
Au natural with clear poly?
Solid black poly?
Something else?

As far as color, I would do something unique. Maybe satin black. Or something like textured paint- I've seen paint that looks/feels like the bowl on the back of an Ovation. Very unique...and no fingerprints!
