Pearly Gates with 250k or 500k in Strat?

I'm thinking about the Pearly Gates in the bridge of my Strat, but worried about the brightness that so many people seem to complain about. Would I be better off with the 250k, or would 500k work best with any humbucking pickup?

If you use the PG+,you are going to want a 250k pot because thats a bright pickup...If it's the stock A2 PG,you should be ok with the 500k....Go with a 500k and if it's too bright, you can always stick another 500k resistor across both outside legs of the pot...This gets you in the ballpark of 250k,though it may change the taper in a bad way?

If you do have a PG+ you can also switch the magnet over to an A2.The PG+ has some extra winds and is A5.

Thanks for the reply. I had just purchased a regular Pearly Gates with an alnico 2 magnet.
On paper, it sounds like a bridge pickup that I am looking for, but after doing a bit of research on the forum, I'll admit I am a bit worried about the pickup being too bright, or even worse "thin", which some people on this forum have made the Pearly Gates out to be. I don't mind "bright" too much, but I do not want a bridge humbucker that is "weak" or "thin".
Would you mind telling me what you think about the Pearly Gates in the bridge of a Strat? Do you find it weak or thin, despite its apparent brightness?

i have a set of pearly gates in a strat with 500k pots and i dont think they are weak or thin at all. they are paf style pups so if you are used to an invader or distortion it isnt going to be much like that but they arent thin

I didn't find the PG+ I had in one of my own strats thin, but it was bright...I remember I had a .056 mfd cap on the tone control and a 250k pot to tame it back..I didn't care for it and it was replaced many years ago with a DMZ Fred, which I have always loved...With the Fred,I did actually go back to a 500k pot and it's wired for split/series/parallel via a mini switch.
