Pearly Gates Without Cover

Hello!

I have a Bridge Pearly Gates WITHOUT a cover (zebra cream and black). I'm sure you know the kind....... plastic on top and nothing covers the sides with the coils except some kind of black fabric tape. I'd like to try it on the bridge of a strat.
Can it be installed like that on the pickguard, or do i need to get some kind of a cover?

Thank You!

I just did this with fantastic results. Sounds good in my strat. One weird thing happened. I bought a trembucker & the fit was tight. I Had to shave the sides of the pickguard to make it fit. The spacing was right, and I think this was a one-off. You will need to drill a new mounting hole in your pickguard if you had a Fender two-mounting-Screw-on-One-Side HB, but that's easy.

Re: Pearly Gates Without Cover

how is the sound of PG uncovered compared to the nickel/gold plated-cover one? does it make a big difference??

Re: Pearly Gates Without Cover

One word of warning. Check that the pickup cavity is deep enough to accept the height adjuster screw lugs on either end of the humbucker's baseplate.

Re: Pearly Gates Without Cover

the cover makes a little difference. its a touch less bright with a cover on as long as its a good cover. a cheap cover can kill lots and lots of high end
