Peavey Bandit 112 - anyone??

My 20 year old Bandit 112 is now pretty much dekcuf - and being an imaginative sort of chap, after some deliberation, I thought I'd just get me a new one!

I can't go playing all the combos but I want something in the £200 - £250 (or ~ $500) region, MUST have a good clean sound, and then some overdrive that sounds good bluesy if not necessarily mental.

Any thoughts on the latest version of the Bandit, or better ideas??

Thanks,

EW

Roland Cube 60. The clean channel is snatched from the JC120, it's BEAUTIFUL! And the Vox-Tweed models are to die for... you'll feel how warm they are, then you'll check the amp to double-check there's no tubes in it!

Besides, it's dead cheap, more than loud enough and weighs much less than the Bandit. (And sounds 10 times better IMO) What else can you ask for? :bigthumb:

Thanks guys, very interesting!

Do Marshall or Fender make anything in the price range worth checking out? It's mainly going to get used at home so must be reasonably compact, although I'd like to think I'd have enough poke for a small live gig...

There's a whacking great twin jobby by Crate, but the quality seems a bit duff...

i'm using peavey bandit 112 but from the transtube series its prety good, and the preamp on it amazing according to a solid state amp, providing tube distortion sound technologicly, good for soloing and everything ,i compared its distortion with the greatest multieffect distortions ,this amplifires sound was beter with good presence ,but it has too much low mids.but you can manage it with good equalizer.

While the Peavey isn't bad for what it does, there's better amps for that price out there! Check out a Fender Blues Junior or some of Randall's amps. Don't forget that looking for 2nd hand amps will allow you for even more options. Just look around!

I can get a new bandit for £200 so that adds to the attraction. It's compact, powerful, reliable and I gather sounds at least as good as anything else in that kind of price bracket... nonetheless I'll certainly keep my eyes and ears open!
