Peavey Classic 30 - Where was it made?

I just ordered on of these used that says "Designed and built in the USA". Does anyone know if that means it was made in "Meridian Mississippi" or (other than China) did they make them somewhere else as well?

Re: Peavey Classic 30 - Where was it made?

They were made in Mississippi
Not meridian
There was an episode of Undercover Boss
That detailed the closing of the shop that made the 30s in Mississippi

They moved production to China around 2011

It's China made

Who cares. Great amp.

This is true
My buddy fawns over his every day
Swapped the Blue Marvel for a Cannabis Rex
Put the Marvel in his Bandit
The Bandit likes the Marvel much better

Does the one you're looking at have a standby switch
The earlier ones didn't
More recent ones do

Its gonna be something you'll want if your gigging

Re: Peavey Classic 30 - Where was it made?

Only my experience. I owned a C30 BT with no standby switch for ~10 years. Finally picked up a C30 II in tweed to match the rest of my Classics and sold the BT. The second generation has a standby switch. However, I never had any issue with the BT not having the standby switch. Just turn it down at breaks and before you power it off when the gig is over. Pops on power off are normal and never harmed the speaker in mine.

Damn fine USA made amp. I had one and it rocked! Traded it in for partial credit on a rare Marshall 2204.

It did nice cleans with the 12" speaker all the way to hot rod Marshall.

The EL-84s are b!tching

Reread the OP
If it says "Built in the USA" then yep made in Mississippi

Thanks. That was what I was asking. Just a little confused because some of the older ones identify as made in Miss and mine say USA only.

I want the mini (not micro) head version. Very natural sounding gain IMO.
