Peavey Delta Blues: 2x10 vs. 1x15

Alright, I'm running into a problem with my Peavey Delta Blues amp (2x10 combo). Originally these amps were only made with a single 15-inch speaker. Later, Peavey added a variation of this model with two 10-inch speakers. I have the 2x10 version.

Played at a low volume, the amp sounds excellent. The problem is that when I turn up the master volume (clean channel), I get added mids/bass that muddy up my tone. I can turn down the bass on the EQ, but the muddiness still comes through.

My question is whether or not an amp like mine that was made originally for a 1x15, would have this problem because it is being used as a 2x10?

Try it through someone else's spkr rig....that will aid in isolating the issue.

Every Classic or Delta Blues I have played has done that.

The only ones that haven't have been the 4 x 10 models and the heads running into cabs.

I honestly think it's more the amp and how many speakers as much as it is the actual quality of the speakers themselves.
