Peavey Masterpiece 50

Came across this amp in my Revalver software. On the gain channel it has both a Gain Trim, Gain and Gain Level knob. Noodling around in the software sim, they seem to do pretty much the same thing. Can any explain to me what the different knobs actually do? I kinda sorta get the Gain and Level, but then again, the amp already has a Volume as well as master volume knob that affect both channels, so I'm somewhat confused as to where the gain stage actually happens.

I have one of these. The clean channel cascades into the lead channel. The "gain trim" regulates how strong of a signal the lead channel sees coming in from the clean channel. The "gain" knob is an additional preamp gain for the lead channel only. The "gain level" knob regulates the overall output level of the lead channel, so that amongst other things, you can set separate levels for your lead and clean channels. The master volume is just that, master volume. The "volume" knob on the left is a level for the clean channel(which of course affects the signal going into the lead channel). All in all, there is a multitude of ways to achieve various levels and character of gain. Very impressive, really. The differences of where you inject gain can be subtle at times, and very dramatic at other times. It is a lot of fun to tweak.

That does look really nice. I had never heard of it. I wonder how close the software is to the real amp. How do you like the software sound?

Quite a lot, esp for clean stuff. Could try recording a few samples and upload, if you'd like to hear.

Those Masterpieces are something special

Here's a vid of the Revalver version
