Does anyone here have any experience with the new Revalver 4 software that just came out?

Yup. It sounds great, but if you're coming from 3.5 you'll be missing out on the old layout, and I don't care for the USB protection method.

I got 3.5 for $30 from MF

it is great! I use recabinet impulses with it. I was making 'alert' deal posts when it was a MF stupid deal on this site so others could buy at that price too.

It would be hard for me to think it could improve sonically much more. I understand there is more tweakability, but I am not really into that.

In 3.5 you could put any piece of gear anywhere in the chain. In 4.0 they have specific locations for pedals, amps, and post FX. They eliminated the separate preamp and poweramp models, so if you were patching together sounds that way (like me) you'd be disappointed with 4.0.

Sorry, but I like putting an EQ and chorus in the effects loop. pre-4.0 Revalver was the only amp sim that let you do that. (Yes, there are a few other sims that let you disable sections of the amp and you can load the plugin twice with other effects in between but Revalver was much more seamless.)
