peavy valveking?

Re: peavy valveking?

just no. save and buy a used Marshall cab or Mesa if you can. Marshall will be more affordable

Re: peavy valveking?

i found a peavyu valve king cab online for $150. anyone have any expierence with these. are they good in the low end?

the Valve King is notoriously bland amp
the cab may not be
the construction is most likely MDF and the speakers are probably average

if you can find a used Carvin online
that may be a better deal
but the 300 watt 4x12 isnt the same as the 400 watt 4x12

the 100 watt BR series speakers sounded great
then they moved the manufacturing overseas and they became 75 watt speakers and became not so great

Re: peavy valveking?

i have a marshal mg412a cab now. im playing an agile 9 string. and the lows are terrible. i also play a bc rich bich anywhere from c standard to drop a and it just doesnt hjave the low punch im lookin for.

Re: peavy valveking?

The Peavy cab will most likely sound better than the MG cab at any rate. Peavy has never made junk in terms of construction...their stuff is solid. It's down to whether or not you like the speakers.

+1

Their speakers usually suck IME, but the cabs themselves are decent. It should at least be better than an MG cab, but I'd plan for a speaker swap in the not-to-distant future.

Re: peavy valveking?

+1 on a used Carvin cab. I got my 412 for 160, and the thing's built like a really good sounding tank.
