I have two pedals that were plugged in with the wrong adapters. Both of them have had there protective diodes replaced. One by a "pro" and one by me. They both seem to have the same thing in common. They hum and buzz. My theory is some capacitors also took a hit and need to be replaced. Anyone have a similar experience? The pedals in question are a Boss DS-1 and an Ibanez Mostortion.

Well, in my experience, a stock DS-1 is a pretty noisy pedal to begin with ...
If the protective diode goes, the other thing that usually goes is the filter cap - the big electrolytic (looks like a can) between the power and ground rails. If you need to replace the diode, it's usually a good idea to replace this as well.
