Pedal Dilemma

Right now I'm running an Epiphone Les Paul Studio or Ibanez (Seymour Duncan SH-2N and SH-8 Invader) into a Vox AC15C1, using a JHS Soul Food Meat & 3 to get a good drive tone. It sounds great for Foo Fighters rock type stuff, but I always think I should get a distortion pedal for a little extra gain. I look at reviews distortion pedals online, but then play for a bit and think I don't need one, but then I think I do, but then I don't, etc. Should I stick with what I have or should I get a distortion pedal, and if so, which one?

Re: Pedal Dilemma

Any good booster should work. I've heard good things about the Seymour Duncan pickup booster. It'll probably work for what you want. The killing floor is also a cool choice if you want more gain. Go to a store and try a couple out. There's tons of options...

Re: Pedal Dilemma

Distortion of overdrive? To add more distortion to what you have, use an overdrive, like the 805 Overdrive. If you need an all-out distortion pedal, track down a Dirty Deed, which will push even a dead clean amp into the right amount of distortion.

Re: Pedal Dilemma

you looking for a stand alone distortion? if using pedal over clean maybe mi crunchbox, box of rock, gni, rat, etc. if playing over dirt, get a noce od or boost like ocd, fatboost, wylde od, etc
