Pedal Recommendations?

What pedal should I buy that would best hide the fact I don't practice enough? Something that cost a lot and was made by hand in USA

Preferably with tap tempo and a switchable boost circuit

i would say buy yourself a real leslie 147 and the preamp you need to run a guitar into it. doesnt have tap tempo, but it does have two speeds and a breaker switch to stop the rotation

The two best approaches that I've seen used live are kind of opposite to one another:

1. Lots and lots of gain will completely eliminate the problem of trying to make the dynamics in what you're playing work. Most high gain pedals will help if this is your problem.
2. People won't know how bad you are if they can't hear you. Try using any boost pedal as an underdrive. And then just underdrive your signal until it's well below the volume level of the band itself.

So . . . a metal zone and a tube screamer should get you there one way or another.

I see a lot of guys using Strymons whose wallets may be able to justify the pricetag, but their playing can't. Jokes aside I feel like guitar has moved away from playing and more towards ownership. People are too busy looking for cool sounds coming from the store shelf rather than coming from their hands

I think there is a blaance between tech and talent that works. Some of the greatest have all pushed the boundry of tone and signal processing.Hendrix, Holdsworth, Page, EVH all pushed the guitar beyond its tonal limits. I have yet to see a pedal that plays the instrument for you, they are still GIGO.

While I always try to listen to players using groovy new tech who can actually play, there are entire genres of music based on minimal playing skill, and maximum budgets for gear.

A slicer is a good example of a piece of hardware that requires more talent on the hardware itself than the instrument going into it

a delay and a spacious reverb, in that order, a lot of immoral pricey options in this field, strymon el capisan + strymon blu sky, or eventide stuff, you can spend a lot

Buy 10 metal zones and chain them all together. Followed by a Strymon delay. Everything on all at once.

Entire genres of the opposite also.

I'm glad you didn't specify that it has to be true bypass, because if you buffer enough bad notes, they might sound good together.

You could always get a looper pedal, and have someone else record a loop while you just hold the guitar while it plays.
