Got to thank John aka StratDeluxer97 for hooking me up and taking care of some pedals for me. He cleaned up and tweaked my old BF2 Boss Flanger and it sounds like a million bucks (he even replaced a long lost screw :notworthy ). On top of that he tweaked a crappy little OD pedal for me and gave it some real sounds, no mean feat, it was really more for fun and he was up to the challenge. He did all of this for a very reasonable price and his turn around time was ridiculously quick, he is a great guy and fun to deal with as well.

Can't recommend him enough if you need to get your toys hooked up.

Ditto #4... He worked wonders with my DS-1, can't wait to send him an SD-1 or tubescreamer!!!

Tube Screamers are my absolute favorite pedals to mod...They sound great to begin with but with a few good tweaks,you can have a TS that has a bit more gain and more balls....All of this and yet still great note clarity..This is still one of my favorite pedals and I own like 4 versions of the TS...I currently own a reissue 808, 3 TS5s, A Vox ValveTone(TS In disguise)and a TS9...I think this is 5 versions?

The TS5 is a very smooth sounding pedal and can be bought very resonably...I love this pedal because it's smooth,has tons of sustain,you can still roll your guitar's volume back and clean up,and it has great harmonic content and is easy to mod...

The TS9..Ends up sounding gainier,but it's also a bit harsher sounding overall to me...It sounds great after you do the 808 mods,get the right chip in it and tweak some caps,but it just isn't as smooth and warm as the TS5? Must be a difference in tolerences overall on the components and especially the pots...

The TS7 is going to be pretty close to a TS5 but has a boost switch that adds an extra cap into the circuit in parallel and has a better box to mount the components in..

The Reissue TS 808 is really great and doesn't need any tweaking really...On mine,I put an 80's JRC4558D chip and mounted it onto an 8 pin gold chip holder so I can try different chips...I also increased 1 gain cap and lowered 1 gain resistor..This gave me a bit more gain and lowend..I also replaced 2 metal can caps with poly caps...This 808 is really a very throaty sounding pedal with great distortion and has great tone overall...Just some TS trivia for you all... :wink:

Hey what did you do to the Flanger? Can you do it to the BF-3?

All I did on the BF2 was to clean all the pots and jacks and replaced the old electrolytic metal filter caps...No mods were done. :) I also resoldered many connections on the board and around the jacks..

Make me Ditto #5. The pedals that John has modded for me used to be just accent pedals used with a TS-9, but now they stand up all by themselves thank-you -very-much!

Wow. I'm thinking of getting a tubescreamer but I'm not quite sure which one. i'm trying to get a sort of classic Guns n roses type sound.

John I own a Boss V-wah and Boss CE-5 Chorus Esemble, is there anything you can do to make those better?

I'm thinking of getting some kind of reverb pedal also but not quite sure which to get yet. I was looking at the Boss RV-5 I think, and it looks quite good but are they're better ones around??

Hello forum buddy and thanks for asking...I've pretty much had to limit my time "lately" with overdrive/distortion mods to Tube Screamers,and the Boss SD1,DS1..Plus I've been also doing some amp stuff and a put together of an old Jackson guitar for a work buddy..Needless to say,it's all been keeping me very busy! Send your Tube Screamer...I've not done mods to the other pedals you mention...Not yet anyway! :13: Appreciate greatly,you asking...

Thanks again to all of you that took the time to write such nice things...It's very gratifying when you can do something that makes someone else happy,especially when it's related to guitar tone and a hobby we all enjoy so much..Glad to be a part of it all..
