Pedal Wear-Out

I've heard that silicon and germanium transistors in fuzz pedals and transistors which in wah pedals wear out gradually and the tone those enable change.

Do this problem apply in OD pedals and other pedals?

Re: Pedal Wear-Out

I know the germanium transistors are more prone to being effected by temperature changes. But I don't think age will bring about a noticeable difference.

Re: Pedal Wear-Out

silicon transistors aren't going anywhere unless they're broken. Germaniums may drift depending on how much temperature fluctuation it sees. Either shouldn't really see much drift within the lifespan of a human being.

Re: Pedal Wear-Out

An electrolytic capacitor is more likely to leak/explode/wear out long before any transistor, and even those will last many decades under normal use.
